Some arrive dusty from Concrete Hill. Some arrive straight from the car park. Terrace @ Van Gaalen treats both the same: fresh farm food, country-style service, house-made Gouda: and nowhere you need to be afterwards.

Contemporary and traditional Dutch dishes built on farm-fresh flavours, from post-ride breakfasts and wood-fired pizzas to Dutch classics, farm platters and fresh-rolled sushi. The blackboard changes with the seasons, so there's always something new.

Pre-book a picnic basket and claim a dedicated shady spot on the banks of the Skeerpoort River. Just bring your own blanket. Each basket carries a cheese platter, a cold meat platter, potato salad, beetroot salad, pickles, kalamata olives, bread, biscuits, seasonal fruit, and one koeksister per person.

Beyond the everyday lunch service, Van Gaalen has a private function room for life's bigger moments: birthdays and anniversaries, year-end and corporate functions, christenings, club get-togethers and celebrations of a life well lived.
Picture a candle-lit chandelier, a long shared table, the farm's own Gouda on the platters and the Magaliesberg on the doorstep. Our kitchen caters the whole thing, and the little ones have a farmyard, zipline and jungle gym to keep them busy while the grown-ups linger.

A cake cut from our own cheese wheels
For milestone birthdays, anniversaries and weddings, we can stack a tiered "cake" from whole Van Gaalen Gouda wheels and dress it with fresh greenery. A centrepiece your guests actually eat, cut with a cheese knife instead of a blade.
